Drug-fighting speedboats and satellite technology, new KLM and Alitalia routes between Panama and Italy, and university scholarships are part of the new benefits Panama will be receiving from its friendship with Italy.

Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, who signed the agreement with Italian Minister of Foreign Relations Franco Frattini, confirmed that Italian companies want to invest in Panama’s energy and infrastructure sectors.  In addition to the hospital Italy is paying for in Veraguas, the European country could also donate a school which would include Italian language courses in its course offerings.

And, it is reconfirmed again - Silvio Berlusconi will be in Panama on June 30 as an extra regional observer to the Central American Integration System Summit and to sign double taxation, security and tourism treaties with Panama.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Should you follow the link, the youtube video is a clip from a satirical German film called Bye Bye Berlusconi.
