The Panamanian government announced the creation of a special commission to investigate what happened in Bocas del Toro between July 5 and 13.
The independent commission will analyze the events and excesses that led to death, injury and arrest when banana workers clashed with the police during the violent protests.
Members include Ruben Castillo, Octavio Amat, Roberto Troncoso, Anibal Galindo, Julia Suira, Mariela Vega and Paulina Franceschi as well as Roberto Cirausqui, the priest of Bocas del Toro’s Catholic church.
