Lawmaker Looks to Ban Halloween

No more kids dressed as little witches, goblins, gremlins, devils, reapers, elves, phantoms, teenage mutant ninja turtles, cowboys, draculas, convicts, ninjas, police officers, vampires, pilgrims, quidditch players in Panama?

Deputy Alcibiades Vasquez is proposing a ban on Halloween celebrations in all of Panama’s public and private schools.

This initiative, Vasquez said, represents a commitment made last October to end the ghoulish practice.

He said Halloween has been celebrated for years in Panama and that “this foreign celebration does not correspond to Panamanian culture, nationality and the Christian condition of the people.”
