Panama Declares Donald Trump Persona Non Grata

Panama City’s municipal council has declared Donald Trump persona non grata after the real estate tycoon said that the United States was stupid for giving the Canal back to Panama in exchange for nothing.

“We unanimously approved a resolution that declared Donald Trump persona non grata,” Javier Ortega, a member of the council, told AFP Friday.

President Ricardo Martinelli qualified Trump’s statements as “lamentable, unfortunate and inappropriate.”

Former Foreign Minister of Canal Affairs, Jorge Ritter, said that he was surprised that “a man like Trump could display an ignorance as large as the size of his fortune. ”

Minister of Commerce Roberto Henriquez said that the comments were political nonsense from someone who is investing millions in Panama.

Trump’s comments appear to date back to a CNN Situation room interview aired on September 22, 2010, which seems to indicate that it took Panama almost six months to declare Trump unwelcome, just a little under four months before the inauguration of the Trump Ocean Club Tower in Panama City.

BTW Donald Trump didn’t invest in Panama. He just sold his name.

Let’s just hope Donald Trump isn’t the next President of the United States. He’d be the one to re-occupy and re-militarize Panama.

Rose, it seems you are experiencing trouble when attempting to communicate your thoughts and feeling. Don’t worry, that is completely natural. As a doctor of philosophy, I would suggest reading more and engaging yourself in writing exercises on a daily basis, if possible.

We are all interested in what you are trying to say, but when you rely on expletives and all-caps in your writing, although you might know what you are trying to say, it can be difficult for fellow forum contributors to decipher the meaning.

Thanks, good ‘ol Dr. Burt. But when attempting to (reason) diagnose “rose”, it’s like trying to find out whats wrong with Tony Soprano. She’s gonna blow up regardless of whats said. Whack!

And he wants to be President of the U.S., to boot… Stick to what you know, Donald. Making money, losing it spectacularly, then making it all back again.

Trump is absolutely right. Why shoud we of given back something that we built and paid for. Panama was still getting paid when the U S had control. It wasnt just the canal we gave away, we also gave them hundreds of homes and major infrastructure. If it wasnt for the U S Panama would probably still be under Columbian control and if they didnt have the canal they would be just another poor 3rd world country. And for the the French starting the canal and us just finishing it, give me a break and do a little research. The French were just digging holes that were filling back in. The U S started from scratch and engineered the canal to use locks. Something the French didnt try.
