Panama to Address Border Security Face-on

Panama may soon be a less attractive destination for international fugitives.

Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino announced that cameras and facial recognition software will soon be installed at Tocumen International Airport and at the Paso Canoas border with Costa Rica to identify international criminals or terrorists entering the country.

A facial recognition system, although not perfect, compares selected facial features from an image to Interpol or other international security databases.

    A lot of good that’ll do… There’s this thing, it’s called facial reconstructive surgery.
