Panama kicked off its international tourism campaign today, Wednesday, hoping to draw two million visitors this year.
The new slogan: “Unimos al Mundo”, which translates directly as “We Unite the World”, and converted by tourism authorities to “Where the Worlds Meet” in English.
Tourism Minister Salomon Shamah said that a bargain $600,000 was invested to produce the television ads for Panama’s new tourism campaign. Placing the ads city by city based on a detailed market study will cost over $4 million by year’s end 2011.
“If we want the campaign to be seen, we have to by air time, space,” Shamah said. “We have to compete if we want to attract tourists.”
There is also an internal tourism campaign called “Discover Your Interior.”

Another somewhat dull slogan.
What would you suggest?
$600.000 Come on! Another rip off!
I think the first thing Panama should do is stop to LIE to people. I have heard so many people saying they will never come or invest again in Panama. The service is very bad, people are very slow, noisy, they have no courtesy, are rude.
Plus our Minister of Tourism can’t even go to USA to promote Panama because he is or was in Drug traffics and has no visa. He should resign but we all know that is never going to happen!
I am SO ashamed to be Panamanian!
Few ideas to have a nicer Panama:
-Educate people to get rid of their garbage in the right place
-Learn courtesy and give a good service to their customers
-Have a big campaign to sterilize street cats and dogs
-Stop cutting every single tree they see
-Stop all those constructions! This is not NYC!
-Stop honking
That would be a cheaper campaign and will attract people by itself to Panama.
awwww im so far away from my homeland mmmm make me cry…thank for the videos…i love you Panama
I’d go with:
Panama: It’s neither here nor there.
Or
Panama: It’s not what you expected.
Where the world passes through might be more fitting.
Panama: Where humans have torn the world apart.

Panama: Right between Costa Rica and Colombia.
“Panama Mediocre – where low expectations are almost met”
Shamah is joke, not only a criminal, but also ripping this country off as part of Martinelli’s crooked administration!
