Boxing champ going to jail – Former world boxing champion Pelechin Caballero was sentenced to five years in prison for transporting drugs. He was arrested on March 10, 2016 in the Corridor Norte with 10 packets of cocaine in his car.

Public servant caught smuggling – An employee of Panama’s court system was arrested Friday morning for trying to smuggle two cellphones, two headphones, a charger, $200, two memory chips and one cell phone chip into the Nueva Joya prison in Pacora. The Penitentiary system informed the Supreme Court of the incident.

Drugs seized on way to Spain – Authorities at the port in Colon confiscated 102 packets of drugs inside a container headed for Spain. Two port employees and a rig driver are being held, captured on security camera.

Two killed in landfill – The bodies of José Paz, age 21, and Juan Murillo, age 20, were found at in the Cerro Patacón landfill at midnight on Thursday. Both had been shot, and although the exact motive is not known, authorities are investigating leads.

Dead at the bus stop – A man was found dead at a bus stop in Tocumen early Thursday morning. Initial reports indicate that he was stabbed several times.
