USDA Interested in Panama Agro

Representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture arrive next week to tour food production sites in the western region of Panama.

During the four-day visit, the US delegation will explore how the agency might support the Agricultural Master Plan for the Western Region, a public-private initiative involving an investment of $557 million over the next seven years, and how Panama may improve its competitiveness and development to meet the export requirements for the US market.

The itinerary includes stops at milk, chocolate, banana and coffee facilities, among others, in the provinces of Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro.
